Charlie

12 Years Old

Charlie's owner sadly passed away, and needed a new home. Charlie is very opinionated, but in a sweet way. He is very cute and has big brown eyes. His beautiful black and white coat is now getting speckled with some gray.

Charlie loves all people and is a great sidekick. He is loyal and very frisky and a pleasure to have here at Finally Home. Charlie we hope you are with us for a very long time.

Frankie

9 years old

Sweet Frankie came from Texas as a stray. She had heartworm and was successfully treated for that and then flown up to Portland on a Freedom Flight. Frankie is good with all of the dogs and the cat as well. She is affectionate and a quiet girl who is just happy to have a warm, safe place to lay her head. We are very excited to have her with us and hope she will be with us for a very long time. We plan to spoil this girl for the rest of her life. 💕

DeeDee (Doris)

15 years old

DeeDee is a 15-year-old puppy mill dog, from a location right here in Maine. DeeDee was taken from the facility and ended up at ARLGP, where they contacted Laurie Dorr, and she arrived here at Finally Home in April 2025.

DeeDee is not used to being handled, so we are taking it very slow with her, but have already learned a lot about her. DeeDee wants to be with people and gets along with all animals here at the home. She is very sweet and adorable, weighing only 11 lbs. currently. We plan to help her gain a bit of weight and have learned she loves treats already.

We all love DeeDee and plan to spoil her for the rest of her life.

Bear
12 Years Old

Bear came to us in December 2024. Bear’s owner passed away, sadly, leaving Bear with no one. He was taken in by a relative for a while, until they determined they could no longer keep him. Bear is a cute, smart, funny little guy. He is reportedly a black lab, but with very short legs. He is also lightweight, with a very shiny and soft black coat.

Bear’s Smile – With Tail Wagging, Of Course
Bear LOVES toys, especially those that squeak! You can find him lying on the floor with a squeaky toy in his mouth, just making it squeak, squeak and squeak.
We are thrilled to have this guy as a part of our pack! He gets along with all of the dogs and even the cat in the home. Let’s hope we have many fantastic years together.

Dove

12 years old

Dove is a 12-year-old puppy mill dog, who has had innumerable litters of puppies. She was finally taken to a shelter when the breeder was done with her. Fortunately, a local rescue saved her, and she then came to us here at Finally Home in February 2025.

Dove is the friendliest girl ever, with a tail that never stops wagging. She seems very happy to be among our friendly pack, who get a lot of attention from our fantastic volunteers, as well as the Dorrs.

We hope that Dove loves it here and will be with us for a very long time.

Max

13 years old
Likes: Being A Lap Dog

Max is a 10 lb. dog with a lot of energy and personality. He can be sweet and quiet and then wild and crazy. Max was the only dog in his prior home, where the owner could no longer keep him. We are fortunate to have him with us. He gets along with all animals and people and is a spunky little character. Max hails from New York, but with relatives in Maine, who plan to keep in touch. Max, we're so glad you came!

Carolyn and Lucy are sweet, playful girls who are fitting in nicely with the other dogs here. Lucy is the white, spotted dog and is a mix, but mostly beagle. Although the 8 other dogs were taken in quickly, but these two were not, and were left on the property, with people stopping in to feed them for 3 months. They eventually made their way to Vermont, where Laurie Dorr drove to pick them up and make them part of the pack.
